Oil Maintenance % ?? - HELP!
The light is called a dumby light. It has no idea what is in the engine. You could pour 100% water in the engine and reset the oil light and it would tell you that you have 100% oil life. You could be have a stuck injector and dumping fuel into the crank case and it would not know. The is a math equation on how it figures out the life of the oil. It looks at RPMs and run time. I use to replace Police engine all the time, because they would change the oil every 3,000-4,000 miles, but they would sit and idle for hours, which shortens the oils life, but were not taking this into consideration.
