Older Civic
I have an 84 Civic wagon and as the car ages I'm wondering what the weak point might be as the miles pile on. I've had the car since new and it has 394k miles on it. I've never had any serious problems with the car and continue to drive it because it's so useful and cheap to run. People tell me the carb is a weak poing but it's never been a problem. It's easy to clean and adjust and the car runs smooth and gets 40 mpg. I have replaced the camshaft twice and the valve seals three time but the head has never been off. I've also replaced the bearings and seals in the 5-speed and just reciently rebuilt the front suspension but that's to be expected in 20 years or so. Anyone have any comments?

well like any vehicle... the weak point... is the metal/unibody.... depending on your location where you live.... cause road salt will shorten its life drasticaly!!!!!!!!!
cause like youve done.... the drivetrain can be replaced/fixed BUT the unibody if its rusted away... thiers nothing you can do to save it!

Sooner or later you will have to replace it but it is up to you to replace it when it finally dies for good or you want to treat yourself for a newer ride. I would not buy a new one but a used one maybe 3 years and older.
my 2 cents.
my 2 cents.
my first car was a 85 crx si japan model with fuel injection 3 in throttle body and black corners/bumper lights major problem with those gen is in corner where fender and windshield meet it rusts real bad besides that just normal where and tear my crx had only 137,000 mile on it.u should update i have a 94 civic hatchback vx model that gets better gas mileage than that.
