Are our 2001 civics known for oil consumption?
People,
have a 2001 civic EX, AT, and only has about 110,000 miles on it. It has slowly, steadily ben increasing its motor oil consumption. meaning, its been happening for a while (2 years or so). Now, it consumes say, a quart every 500-600 miles. Geez- the revered civic burning oil so soon. Is this normal for our cars, people? (I have taken very good care of the engine ever since new).

there are two valves the pcv on the valve cover is metal so no need ro replace just remove and clean it with carb cleaner.you mite as well clean your EGR and IACV while your at it. this is a good 7th gen diy page DIY: forgotten tune-up mods - Honda Civic Forum

Nice link, it. Now i got a weekend project! Meanwhile, I did do that test- accelerated while watched that tailpipe and no visible bluish smoke, which is good. Must be low level burning. Maybe seepage from the valve cover, which is oozing, but all that oil cant be from that as it doesnt even drip onto the floor/driveway.

be careful when removing the iacv screws there in tight and they strip easily. also im guessing the leak is coming from your rear cam seal not the valve cover. when it leaks it seeps around the valve cover its a easy fix. the cap is 8 dollars at the dealer i did mine last week actually here is a diy. you mite as well replace the cap while the egr is off. note your going to need a small Swivel socket adapter to get the egr off

I think we're on the right track, IT!! Youre so helpful- big thanks!! Yes, ther is much goo in that area, but I should first wash of with engine cleaner, then drive for a week, inspect for fresh oozing to confirm.......Thanks.

there's no need the cam seal is definitely leaking they always leak this is an issue stemming back years and different makes and models replace the cap then clean off the engine.
