Default Over rev on Civic Type R

Hi All

My civic type r is over revving when left in neutral when idle and also when driving in 1st gear - not sure where to start with it really. Any advise please would be very helpful?

Start by checking that the throttle cable isn't stuck. It should go slack at the throttle body when no one is pressing the gas pedal. The throttle plate should be fully closed.

Hi thanks for the reply - I've done that and that seems ok. would the fuel filter cause this problem??

In short, no, a fuel filter can not cause a car to idle too high. If anything, a bad fuel filter would be restricting fuel flow, not allowing too much through.
