Default Overheating problem

I just bought my 95 Honda Civic yesterday and already having a problem with it overheating. I don't think the fan is coming on. The person that had it before had a toggle switch connected to the fan so that u could turn it on when it starts to get hot, but it isn't coming on. Do u guys have any suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should remove the toggle switch and correctly rewire the coolant temperature switch/cooling fan relay circuit. The toggle switch may have been installed because the temperature switch or fan relay was bad. You should also test whether the radiator fan works by connecting it directly to battery power.

The switch is on the thermostat housing at the engine end of the lower radiator hose. Unplug the switch and jumper the two pins in the harness plug to each other; the fan should come on immediately when you turn the key on. If that test passes, replace the switch.
