Question P1362 TDC sensor - 99 Civic

I'm helping out on someone else's car...
USA 1999 Civic LX 4-door auto-trans.

It threw a P1362 (TDC sensor no signal) so I checked the distributor wiring plug etc. It looked really nice & clean. Inside of distributor also nice & clean. Cleaned plug wires just for grins... The same code came back. Before throwing parts at it (distributor = $230) I want to do some more checking.

I'm downloading the manual from hondatech.info for the real troubleshooting map, but in the meantime I wonder if any of you know of the favorite places for that thing to screw up. Until I have the manual, I don't know the ECU pin-outs or locations of other plugs in the wiring harness that carry the TDC sensor signal. Has anyone been thru this?

Does anyone know of any particular issues with the hondatech.info manuals (since they seem to be UK versions)?

Thanks,
Jim

The 96-00 Civic manual at the link in my signature covers USA models. See pages 442-3 for P1362 TDC sensor troubleshooting. All the necessary information is on those two pages.

Cool, THANKS! Thats the one (I saw it in your sig from another thread). It just takes forever with dialup...

I previously got the 93 Accord book from that site & it was UK.

Can you download the file from a computer with a faster internet connection and then later move the file to your computer.

Normally I'd do that, but can't until next week. Besides, when the phone is tied up, I don't get political campaign spam phone calls...
