Default passenger door lock help

i have an /89 honda civic hatchback si. the passenger-side door opens and closes just fine and can be locked and unlocked from the inside but the key won't work from the outside. i think someone tried to break in using a screwdriver. anyway, is this a fairly easy fix for the average DIYer or do i need professional help? what is involved in repairing the lock?
thanks!

If you can obtain a replacement lock cylinder (pictures), then the job shouldn't be too difficult.

ronj,
thanks for posting the pics. its helpful to see what's behind the door panel. by the way, is it fairly easy to remove the door panel? do i need any special tools? by the way, are these pics out of a honda factory service manual or haynes??? i'd like to pick up a decent service manual for other work i plan...thanks!
