PCV help... 90 Civic DX
Hello all; new here, not new to forums. Tried to search several ways for PCV, but it will not include PCV in the search. Tried writing out the words and only got two hits... so, if I need to be flamed, so be it, but I really tried the proper etiquette first...
Now the questions... I'm going to replace my PCV valve today when I tune up my 90 DX 1.5. I doubt it's ever been replaced. I know there is a tube running to the valve. Is this tube or hose likely going to be full of/caked up with carbon? Do I or will I need to make a corkscrew to get it out, or it there a better way to do it? Is my engine more likely to have the screw in or the push in valve? I'm thinking screw in, but the car is 45 miles from the parts place.
Thanks in advance for any help or for suggestions on a better way to search...

If you have DPFI (stock on the DX) it should be a screw-in valve. It's right on the top of the intake manifold in the center near the head. The hose comes off the top of the valve and makes a U turn to go down to the back of the engine. You can disconnect the hose and try to blow air through it to see if it is clear.
Thanks for the info... by the time I got my plugs, wires, cap, and rotor changed it had started to get dark and I was tired, so I called it quits. Oil change and a look at the PCV tomorrow. I've had Japanese vehicles before that had pipes or passages through the head that would get badly clogged. Sounds like this should be somewhat easier regardless. Or, am I thinking EGR valve instead of PCV perhaps? It's been a long time... I know it's burning oil out of the exhaust after coasting and sometimes at startup... heck, it has every right to with 236000 miles on the stock engine... but I'm hoping that some of the oil burning might be caused by a bad or clogged PCV.
