Default Power Window Problem

I just bought a 96 civic LX. very nice car, Honda maintenanced, almost showroom condition. 1 owner, no wrecks. 3 power windows do not work. Only drivers window works fine. Others do not work from either switch. The rear passenger window works with ONLY that door switch. Fuses are all fine. Any one else come across this problem or know any fixes?

The only way to diagnose is to open up all 3 doors and check the voltages to see if the motors are all bad or if the switch is bad or anything else in between. At that age, I would not be surprised if the motors are bad. I had to already replace my front driver's motor but probably due to over use. The others are all pretty slow.

You might want to also manually try to push the window down to see if it might be stuck in the closed position while someone pushes down on the switch. If seems unlikely that all the switches have gone bad at the same time but you never know.

I found the problem, the motors are fine. The wire harness that plugs into the drivers door is bad, the top few wires are broken out of it. (the harness coming from dash in door jamb). Just my luck, no salvage yard as of yet has any civics that are 4 door &/or power windows. Has anyone had this problem? I thought if I find a good plug I can splice it in.

You can buy the door harness separately. It's about $65 list at a dealer (part #8):

Or, cut the wire out a few inches before the plugs on both ends and splice in a new wire. The wires break where they flex when the door is opened. Make sure your splices are not in that area. You shouldn't need new plugs.

I agree with mk that you try splicing the wires first since that is a low cost option. If that fails soon, paying $44 + shipping is not a bad deal. check out the link from mk.

Yea, I thought of splicing it directly bypassing the harness, it would take 2 people, 1 to hold the door up & 1 to splice each wire together.
1 wire is broke & about 4 others at the top just came out the harness, I tried pushing them back in individually (I took the door off) but they won't stay.

Just got back from salvage yard. I found one finally. I will splice in the harness maybe this weekend when I'm off & have a day to work on it.
I will re-post if it works out, thanks for your input guys.
