I have a 93 Del Sol, Vtec with Automatic transmission. I have never had any problems with it until this morning. I was backing out of my parking space, and when I switched gears the car shut off and would not turn back on. The key will not do anything once turned past the first position, and after testing the leads, I found that my 'hot' wires had no power to them. My battery is new, and there are no blown fuses. I have no idea what my cause it to do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do the headlights work?

Have you checked the battery ground wire? Is it loose or corroded?

Have you checked the battery connectors and posts? Are they corroded? Are the connectors loose?

What hot wire leads did you test?

might not be much help but also check starter wires to see if they are loose

 

also try tapping the starter with a hammer. I had a civic that my starter was going bad and when i turned the key it wouldn't turn the motor till i tapped the starter

 

is your car in park? sometimes it wont start because it isnt in park. i used to have a 2001 accord ex and i sometimes forget to put it in park when i start it.
