Default Project: i got time

ok, so here's my issue... i have a civic now, its ok... not too fast, but i've beat people before... i have recently been arrested and i'm now losing my licinse for 18-24 month.(judge/jury decides how long) i am going to sell my car, and then buy an older civic, something around the 92-95 area(i'm looking for a 2 door ex.) From there i will be doing pretty much everything i can to make it fast... i do not know to much about making cars that are race ready, i know of a place that will take my stock engine and add somemoney for a vtec, i know where to get a full exhaust kit, i will also get a turbo kit, cold air intake, headers, and an intake manifold... i really don't know of the other things i need/can get,and i'm not sure if a civic can handle all of that stuff without getting a new clutch or transmition or anything. i'm just looking for feedback on other upgrades i can/need to get.
thanks for your time

My suggestion if you are going to sell your civic and pick up an EG coupe is to buy a shell. Buy a civic that has no engine or a blown engine. Depending how much money you have, swap in a B18B or a B18C1. You can go with a D series engine (that comes stock in non-Si civics) and you will be able to make a good amount of power. However, B-series engines can make more than a D-series. If you have a low budget, you could with a VTEC D-series engine. I believe that B18B engines are fairly cheap though. If you go with a B18B, get a GSR tranny. If you have the cash, rebuild the engine with stronger components. Get a turbo kit. Don't bother with a cold air intake as you won't be able to use it with the turbo. Don't bother with headers either because a turbo requires a different set of headers to accept the compressor. Depending on what state you live in, a 92-95 civic would not have to be tested for emissions (thats how my state is). Building a car to go fast, especially a civic, isn't cheap.

well, here's my suggestion, like it or not, don't buy another civic to make 'fast', because you'll end up right where you are right now. i'm assuming your arrest and license situation was due to a previous race with your old civic?

that's not practical for someone that's been arrested and lost their license (probably from illegal racing or driving), if you're tracking the car, then that's another story. the fact that he apparantly isn't mature enough to keep a licenses, it's probably not a good idea to have a very fast car. i'm not arguing here, just trying to make a point (which could probably save him some jail time in the future).

I totally agree. If you can't drive a car without getting arrested and having your license suspended, you have no buisness behind the wheel of a car with that much power. Your current civic is slow, which might be the reason why you are still alive. With a faster car, you might not be so lucky. Until you realize that the streets are not the place for racing and triple digit speeds, you should not be planning any builds.

Yeah I agree with everyone else. That's pretty stupid, your loosing your license, so now you wanna get another car and try to make it fast which will land you back in the same situation you are now. No offense, but I think the slower civic would be best to keep you out of trouble.

OK... to set everyone straight: i did not lose my license for racing what so ever... i got a DUI and since i was 17 at the time(i'm 18 now) i cannot fight any charges... the type of racing i do is with my friends on back/closed roads, alot of people in my area are into racing. so we all get together and have some races... another reason i am selling my car is for the fact that it is marked. i get pulled over about twice a week. if i'm ever out past something like 10 pm, i get pulled over and harassed by the police, they run my plate and see i have a DUI and they normally just say; "well the reason i pulled you over is your window tint." even though its pitch black out!!! i hope everyone now has an understanding of my situation and i do appreciate all the feedback i have recieved.
thanks to everyone
