Question for Sacicons
A while back you mentioned the ECM as Honda's "Achilles heel". Did you mean the igniter located in the the distributer or the ECU under the passenger floorboard? I am having intermittent stalling problems with no spark while driving. Car usually will not start until it has sat for an hour or so. New dist. cap and rotor and fuel filter and coil tests ok for continuity. I heard the previous owner once hooked up the battery backwards by accident. Thanks for any help.
Forgot to mention, car is a 1991 1.5 LX. Also, A couple of times I got a fuel injector code from the ECU but not usually. I figure it is the igniter or the ECU but I don't know which. Its hard to test because the problem is intermittent.
i had the same problem on my 91 dx...try this: unplug the fuel injector conectors (electrical) and spray some WD 40 in both ends...i went throught the same as u..new dist cap, fuel filter all that...when i did this i didnt have the problem for at least 3 months..it just started acting up again but i did the same and went away..just give it try
yea man i was having the same problem...and the ecu was telling me fuel injector..i did all that additive stuff..but the only thing that worked was sprayin wd in the electrical connection...give it a try and get back to us...good luck
I replaced the ICM (igniter) on the Civic and it cured the problem. Car runs great and has't stalled since. It was easy to replace and only cost $52. I noticed Honda required a new heat sink to go with it so they must have a history of a heat problem with the part. Thanks for the help.
