Default Quickest way to check for a head gasket leak?

I checked my wife's oil and it seems way overfull. The Valvoline we go to is really damn good, and we've never had an issue there with anything. Is it possible that water or coolant has gotten into the oil pan through the head gasket?

You need to drain off the excess oil in any case. The water, if there is any, will come out first when you remove the plug.
