Default rear main seal change

so i have a nice oil leak since the car overheated and warped the head.
i'm pretty sure it's from the rear main. i tried to pull the tranny but to no avail.
i hear you have to pull the bolts on the torque converter to get the trans out. do i access those thru the starter mount hole?

also the car idles like chit since the head was milled and reinstalled. yes i marked the timing and made sure the timing belt didn't jump any teeth while the head was off. any thoughts?

Check for dead cylinders by disconnecting fuel injectors one at a time while the engine idles. You may have a valve adjusted too tight, that will kill compression and make the engine idle rough due to that cylinder not working.

Torque converter bolts are accessed by taking the plate off at the bottom where the transmission meets the engine.

thanks.

would the valve being to tight affect the engine in all rpm ranges? it runs like a champ above idle and is getting 30 mpgs.
FTA, will the torque converter dump atf everywhere when i pull the trans out?

i've taken a standard out in my previous jeep, but i've yet to pull an auto.
