And this is just damn scarey! "Duurrrr, lets put a grinder on my GLASS WINDSHIELD!".. --- I'm sure it's do-able, but probably by a professional who's been doing it so long, that he can do it in his sleep AND blindfolded. I'd go to a junkyard and practice atleast a half-a-dozen times before getting any kind of grinder anywhere near my windshield.

I'm a metal refinisher and work with abrasives all the time and I just know how easy it is to screw up metal, let alone something as important as a windshield.

 

a window isn't really a performance part...so that analagy doesnt really work......

Thanks for the news flash dude. I didn't know I was supposed to be tip-toe-ing around the forums looking for the "douche bag" police. I was speaking cosmetically. Why go waste $50 polishing your window and HOPING it works when you can just add another $200 and get another 10/15 years out of it and KNOW it works. Excuse me for thinking logically and being buddy buddy with the guy/gal. I was being sarcastic with the whole bastard thing.

 

If you were speaking cosmeticly....then why did you compare it to a radiator...


not every one has 200 dollars to replace a window...and like to learn how to do new things.

Wow - I don't feel so bad now for some reason.

Are the scratches in your line of site when driving? Are they a distraction? Do they distort the view in any way? Depending on the severity of those things (if at all) it may be a safety concern. Considering it's the rear glass, maybe not so much though.

Have you checked with the local salvage yards? You might get lucky and find some decent glass for cheaper than new.

 

The scratches aren't in my line of site since they're at the very top of the window, but it just looks like crap. I have thought about seeing if the local salvage yards might have anything, I was just hoping that there might be an "easy" fix.

Guess If I have to replace the glass, I just have to do it.....Just sucks though......The kid who owned my car before me was a freaking idiot.[sm=rolleyes.gif]
