follow your intake box... you'll see that it goes into a whole mess of tubes and a giant container that looks like an all black milk jug. I took all that off. So this is how the air flows now, air comes straight from the bottom of the intake box, through the filter. into the intaketube to the throttle body. I also drilled a buch of 1/4 inch holes and a few 1/2 inch holes all over the part preceding the filter. When this puppy starts grab for air, it sounds sweeeeeeeeeeet. It sounds like I got a buch of stuff underneath my hood (hehe, its allllllll stock.) having said that. would it still pass smog?!? Visually I know I would it doesn't look like I changed anything.

it should as long as the tech doesnt notice it. then its kinda up to him, they can be punks about it. it shouldnt affect the actual emissions though.

Hooooooooooooooooooooooold up! First, Yes I drilled the holes before the filter(duh). Second. WHAT THE HELL IS A RESONATOR?!?! and Third. When I drilled the holes I didn't do it with the intention of letting cold air in, I did it with the intention of letting more air in. And I knew that it would sound better. (I've done this previously with all my other cars). I drilled the holes in the box that is bolted to the engine compartment, so it's before the filter.

the resonator is the black bottle you took out. it deletes the sound waves from the engines intake tract. that is also where some of the sound came from.
