Question Replacing Airbags

Hey guys,

A friend of mine just acquired a 97 Civic from a family member. Both airbags have been deployed (he was told it happened one night when there was a bad storm, since its never been in an accident.)

Anyway, my question is this:

What exactly do we need to replace? Obviously the airbags themselves, but do we need to change the SRS module as well? I've also noticed a couple ebay auctions including the clock spring...Do I really need to change that too?

Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Mike

Im not sure about the passenger side airbag, but not unless your srs light on(on the dash) then you should only have to replace the airbag and not the clockspring(for the driver side).
But i might be wrong..

The SRS module will latch the deploy event and-- officially-- it must be replaced to clear it. Unofficially there are places that will reset them.

Some insurance companies have no deductible on air bags if they deploy for any reason. But the car is probably totaled if you go that route.
