Default Replacing Fuel Filter question

I want to replace fuel filter and know that I have to kill the pump. Can someone please tell me the sequence and rough details of how to kill the pump power and anything else I need to do in preperation of opening up fuel filter housing?

Not sure if it matters, but it is a '99 EX auto trans. Thanks for the help!

just unhook the battery first, although as long as the car isn't on, it shouldn't matter. Then you have to take the fuel line off each end(top and bottom) of the filter. Then there are 3 nuts to take off where it is attached to the firewall, remove it. Then replace the old filter with the new filter, and put it back on the firewall, attach the lines and nuts and you're good to go. Make sure you dont'lose the copper fittings that come with the filter, you need those.

Appreciate the help! That's much easier than disconecting the fuel pump and running the extra fuel out of the line. Thanks.

ya i replaced mine not long ago. no need to touch the fuel pump. make sure everything is tightened to spec and check for any leaks by the end of a day of driving.

Do I need to let off the pressure that's in the fuel line, since I'm not messing with the pump? If yes, what's the best/easiest way to do this?

Hi:
i just did mine on an 88 honda civic (throttle body injection).
i did not let the pressure off - but just put a thick rag around the outlet side of the fuel filter. no problem whatsoever; just a little fuel in the rag.
don't forget about the placement of the copper washers.

Yeah, the fuel pump doesn't have any power running to it until the key is in the "On" position anyway, so no worries there. Just disconnect the battery (as mentioned) and grab something to soak up the gas.
