rev limiter problem

i just put a 2000 d16y8 in an 88 hatch and it hits rev limiter a 5500 rpms and i know that is not stock is there anyway i con remove the limiter?

Sounds like its running in limp mode, not allowing it to cross over into vtec. Any CEL's or anything?

i used the automatic wirring harness and computer and it was reving fine in the other car but now it is a 5 speed
