Default Rough downshifting? please help!

Hey guys I recently bought a 2007 silver EX (automatic). Is it normal that new '07 civics downshift consistently when slowing down? Also, when I'm slowing down and hit about 5mph, the downshift from 2nd to 1st jerks the car somewhat and almost feels like a light brake shutter. It's been like this since I drove it off the lot and the dealer claims that it's normal (although they've never driven my car before). Anybody have the same problems or can tell me what's going on? Thanks in advance.

This must be your first Honda right?

Yup, thats normal for a Honda transmission.

1st gear is always pretty fussy. Like if you take your foot off the gas just a tiny bit it makes a whirring sound and acts like it wants to come to a dead stop. But it's one of the best transmissions out there among it's competition.
