Default Rough Idle and Dying

Ok guys so im not a honda guy, but im looking at an 89 si as a winter car and theres a little problem. The car has trouble starting and when it does it idles really roughly and sputters. When you try to drive it, its real rough through the first 3000 rpm but after that it purrs like a kitten and has full power. Its an old car so im thinking maybe the exhaust rusted out too much and its just a problem of back pressure. Anyone else have any ideas?

Default RE: Rough Idle and Dying

my 91 ran good with no exhaust at all.. so I doubt it would be a back pressure thing. There have been a lot of posts about rough idling lately, try a search.
