Default Rpms help

For quite some time my rpms rev up and down from 1 to 0. It always feels like the car wants to take off if it passes 1 the car kicks like if I was holding down a beast! What can be happening?

What do you suggest?

Should I have the ac vacuumed and refilled?

This only happens with the A/C on? In that case, check the condenser fan (the one under the hood next to the radiator). Fan not working will cause an overpressure that bogs down the engine and makes the compressor cycle on and off. It's not an issue with the refrigerant charge unless someone added way too much. In that case you would have poor cooling at highway speed too.

Check the other two things I mentioned too. With the engine cold, take off the radiator cap and confirm the radiator is full to the top (don't just look in the white plastic tank).

The car has been doing this since I got it I changed the radiator, and it's filled to the top. Yes it happens when my a/c is OFF. Another thing is that I sometimes but rarely notice it when I'm even driving like when I'm doing 60 I'll feel the rpms slightly rev. ????

TexusMain, when he said "Cooling system not full" he meant your engine cooling system, ie, your radiator and stuff. Not the A/C.

When the radiator was changed, they probably didn't fill it up properly afterwards. You may have air bubbles in the system.

keep us updated.

Uhhh ok, got kinda confused their thanks for breaking it down for me. I'm going to check it in the morning. Thanks a lot (I feel like an idiot lol)

Ok guys I checked this morning while my engine was cool and eyeballed it for like 5 minutes or so an there was no air bubbles and it was filled to the top. The rpm does not rev when it's on park or on neutral, when I put it on reverse, drive or any other gear the rpms start going up and down??? Please help, thank you!

What exact model do you have?

Air getting into the intake (from anywhere) will make it idle too fast.
