Default Security Idea..Good or Bad

So the other night I wake up to a knock at my door at 3:45 am. It's my downstairs neighbor saying " I think your car may have been broken into". So I run out and sure enough my trunk is wide *** open, and little wires greet me. Walk to the drivers side and there is my window on the ground all nice and shattered but in one piece thanks to the tint. Well I look inside the dash hasnt been touched my 250+ cd collection still sitting on the floor. Look down and the trunk latch is popped. Except I locked the damn thing with the key.

Go to Honda and ask how that can happen. "Well all they have to do is just pull really hard." Well gee thanks for putting that locking feature on there, glad it works so well.

So picked up my car with a nice untinted window. Dropped it off and got a Viper Alarm, nice little blinking blue LED now greets me.

Anyways on to the question. Is it feasible or really even worth it to somehow disconnect the trunk release and take out the latch? That way the only way of getting into the trunk is by actually having to open it with a key. And is there any other step to keeping this fro mhappening again? I was also thinking of leaving the latch in but putting a razor blade or something under it.

Oh forgot to mention the insurance..Well they stole 2 10' pioneers, the box, and a 1000 pioneer amp. Well when I originally bought them in June 2003 the girl forgot to ring up one of the subs, and the box wasnt on the receipt. So I send it in, get a call from the guy.

" We can only approve you for one 10', an amp, and one 10' box." But if you want to upgrade to what you had it will be around $160 more."

I'm like well what if I go with another brand, and he says " We can upgrade to a 12' Kicker Comp, the amp and a 12'box and it will run you........$4.50....."
Um yea buddy I think I will go ahead and do that.

So thats what I get in return with a voucher for a free install somewhere, all I have to do is pay the guy at the install $4.50. And the amp is a 2006 model replacement of what I had.

It is possible to do what you want with the trunk. On my Camry I had I did the same thing when I was bumpin the system in it. All it involved was releasing a cable with a metal ball at the end of it. It disengages the lever from the lock assembly. I've never done it on a Civic, so I'm not sure what panels and such might have to be removed to do such a thing. As for the razor blade on the lever, I'm all for it. Let it be known that in our womanly Western legal system however that someone could sue you for that if they really felt inclined. Good luck and I'm sorry about your loss. May the thieves who robbed you die a most horrible death for they are the dirtiest of human kind.

Thanks man...yea I know it was someone in my complex.. they were scoping my ride a few times when I left and the day it happened some Fro wearing kid was watching me as I pulled up..and I don't think the people who did it are smart enough to realize how to sue so, I'll take my chances.

Can someone tell me how to go about cutting the trunk release wire. I can get my hand under the molding but dont want to cut the gas lid release.. can someone tell me which panels I need to remove in order to get to the wire and make sure I am cutting the right one.

i know in the trunk there is a lever to make your key not to work on opening the trunk not sure about the latch though..if u take out the plastic moldings around the doors u can get a better look at the assembly in the car.

You could pull the carpet out a bit and follow the trunk wire a couple inches and cut it. I wouldn't recommend that b/c if you sell it one day that will be a major downer. Try to disconnect the wire from either the trunk release or the lever.

I figured it out..tried to disconnect the wire for like 20 minutes.. then realized if i pull hard enough itll come out..so go to the back close the trunk, pops up, close, opens, close, OPENS...dawns on me maybe I should disconnect the cable in the trunk too..and there we go all fixed..so unless they have a key or decide to rip my backseats out..they aren't getting into my trunk...I just want them to try again, lose a finger and be like wtf the trunk isnt opening..I'm thinking of a huge wooden board full of razor blades to put in front of my subs and amp..so if they do get in they'll see a wall of doom..but my luck the thing will somehow fall down and shred my subs to hell

On a completely diff note.. mill$ I got a pair of angel eye projectors and installed them..but for osme reason the inner halo doesnt work..know what might be wrong.. I had a red and black wire for the inner and outer one.. I grounded the black wires to my turning light and the one red wire was connected to one set of green wires I beleive and the other red wire to another set of green.. Should I have connected the red wires to the same wire?
