Default sensor issues on my lsi

hi, i'm having problems with my lsi, i've put an engine in with lower mileage in but its running pritty rough, the idle jumps between 1500 and 2000 rpm. if i give it some throttle when the revs drop and it just cuts out, i'm sure that its a sensor related problem but i'm no mechanic, i have a multi-point injection unit with a non-vtec d15 engine, if anyone can help me start a kind of fault finding process that would be a great help, chances are that due to my lack of knowledge i've connected the injection unit incorrectly. many thanks warren

it sounds more like your timing is off.

You want to read out the code(s) before resetting the ECU, because it'll probably be a good clue as to what is wrong.

hi mk378,
i tried to do what u said, i bridged the 2 pin connector as instructed in my haynes, when i turn the ignition on the engine light comes on for about 2 seconds and then goes off, do u think this means there is a mechanical fault or is it just a case of there being lots of faults and the obd is just plain confused?? i'm sure the ecu/ecm is fine, just on the off chance the obd was reset when i disconnected the battery, i took it round the block just to see if the obd had not recognised any problems straight away. all seemed fine when the rpm is was above 2000... i repeated the process with the obd when i got back home and the light does excactly the same thing, i'm lost! i feel bad for anyone trying to go by my information as i'm not sure what to look for, once again any suggestions more than welcome.
many thanks warren
