Smoken
I replaced the head on my 91 Civic 1.5. The #2 exhaust valves were in bad shape. I appears the #2 cylinder had not been working correctly for a long time. Now that I replaced the head and all the valves are working correctly I'm getting a lot of blue smoke. I disconnected the #2 plug wire and the smoke seems to let up some. It was getting dark out side and to hard to check for smoke. Is it possible that with the new head and valves I'm getting more oil around the rings? Also, it seems that I'm getting more smoke when I let off the gas rather than putting on the gas. Could that be Valve seals? It's a reman head and maybe they didn't replace them. Thanks in advance.
did you do a compression check before buying the head??
certainly they put in new valve guide oil seals ??, right ?
there was an important reminder in the book i followed when i did my rebuild (did not apply to me since i did my own head work), but just remembered it, and that is always check the valve lash before you put on a reman head. Of course, they should have it set right, but the book said that one should not take a chance.
not white smoke, right ? did you torque the head bolts in the sequence and to the proper torque ?

Well, they didn't put a cam seal in so I thought maybe they didn't do a good job replacing the valve seals...as far as the valve lash...I set it to spec's, it's not a hard job to do...I didn't do a compression test...I know, I should have...my son used the one I needed and can't find it...the valves were trashed...it was a call to replace it...I did the head bolts to spec's in the right sequence...I've done few heads in the past...never had a problem...I had some smoke before the head replacement but nothing like it is now...I have to buy another compression tester...I was just hoping I could find mine...thanks for the help guys..
