Question smoking

My 96 civic ex is smoking white smoke when i rev it. any ideas as to wat is causing this?

It could be a blown head gasket. You may want to do a leakdown test (I think that's what it is).

its kind smells like gas

im not sure haha i did my oil change today and it did start raining so i had to close the hood and leave it but i dont belive any water got in there

That's not what he means. lol

He means coolant/water from the cooling system. A common symptom of a blown head gasket is that the coolant will leak into the oil. Your oil will look milky if there is coolant in it.


To me it sounds like you're running a little rich.

or runing rich do you have a cel light on?
idk i havent had the car for long so i cant really tell u if its burning oil.
and as for the cel light nope. it was on do to the fact that i was missing my knock sensor but i put it in there today and disconnected the battery and the cel went off and hasnt been back on

ohh that idk i did have a leakage of coolent but it wasnt in the engine it was an outside line wich i already replaced but leakage in the engine im not sure about

Well you said you changed the oil today. Did the oil look strange at all?

nah oil looked fine it was just really burnt..
& from the oil cap i dont see any coolent water in there.. its strange i hadnt noticed this till today and it was alot of white smoke
