Default Someone please tell me what is wrong with my clutch

Ok here's a little background info. My civic has been wrecked for three years and I'm just getting around to fixing it. By wrecked I mean nothing was damaged farther back than the radiator core support except the hood. The clutch was fine after the wreck. It has been sitting in the garage since. I have gone to start it and let it run for a few minutes with no problem quite a few times. But now when I press the clutch, there is no resistance. I don't feel any engaging point. I took off the cap of the slave cylinder and pressed the clutch and the fluid level does not change. Today I went to change one of the front tires (with the whole front end on jack stands), and even with it in gear the wheel still turns. I hope I gave a detailed enough description. If you have any questions or advice please let me know. Thank you

Have you tried to drive it at all?

Pull the rubber boot off of the slave cylinder (the one on the transmission, the one on the firewall is the clutch master cylinder) and watch if the lever moves when someone pushes the pedal.

If it does, but you can't shift into gear, the clutch disk may be stuck to the flywheel. To try and free it: with the engine stopped, shift into 4th gear, hold the clutch pedal down as well as the brake (the car may move anyway, so make sure nothing is in front of it), and crank the engine.

I havent tried to drive it, though I really want to. The problem with that is my driveway is pretty much a 45 degree angle. I could get it down easily but if the clutch stays the same it would be a bitch to get back up

Oh and it does change gears. Feels the exact same as it used to in that aspect (except for the clutch of course)

could that still mean the clutch disk is stuck to the flywheel?

Start it, and try to shift into gear (wheels on the ground). The Civic clutch is a much lighter action than many other cars, it may actually be working even though it doesn't feel like you think it should.

True, but I drove it for 3 years before I wrecked it so I know how it should feel. Oh and it doesnt really come back up by itself very much

If the lever doesn't move (you will need an assistant for that test of course), then the master cylinder is probably the problem. Much like the brakes, clutch hydraulic parts tend to rust up when a car sits around.
