Space between Engine Mount
I got a 92 civic with 184,000 miles on it & recently replaced my LOWER driver's side engine mount myself. When I put the mount on with the nut that holds it in, there's alittle space between the engine block & the engine mount itself about 1 inch wide, I even put oil on the nut & tighten it down as much as I could(no it's not cross-threaded)..and there's still that space.
I don't know how to upload a pic from my computer on here so I just included a pic of how the mount with the space looks as an attachment. The space is the golden-looking part in the middle of the pic.
BTW..YES it is the same engine mount as my old one. When I took my old one off there was NO SPACE there at all. I compared the 2 engine mounts side-by-side and they are EXACTLY the same in width, length, height, etc.
I don't know how to fix this..I tried pushing the engine towards the driver's side & that was a no-go. I didn't changing any other engine mounts BUT I did take off my UPPER driver's side mount when I changed my timing belt. My Upper mount is still in good condition as well.
Can anyone help me out with this one...maybe I over-torqued the UPPER mount?

Only logical explanation is that the engine shifted when you took the old one off. Maybe raise the front to take any load off the drivetrain. Or, try loosening the bolts holding the mount to the frame/engine so it can slide around. If that fails, you could jack the engine up on the oil pan (careful, more than a little bit could cause damage) to see if that gets you anywere.
Hope that's somewhat helpful.
