spark plug wires
Not looking to see any "gains, lol". Im really just rebuilding a d16z6 to replace my tired out d15 and I have to buy plug wires for it because it didn't come with it. It seems like everyone is pretty dead set on the higher priced wires being not worth the money. Thanks for the input. NGK's it is then.
Spark plug wires are not like speaker wires. Speaker wires should have the lowest resistance possible, and have heavy wire. Spark plug wires are not even wires at all, they are carbon particles with designed-in resistance to eliminate radio interference. The "racing" wires will work, but your radio will be unlistenable. When they develop a gap(s) in the carbon, or arc through the housing, that is when they need replacing. Some of us may remember the old two-cycle plug cleaning trick of removing the sparkplug wire and placing it near the plug to make a larger gap for the voltage to jump across. If you think your wires are bad, try finding a very dark spot at night and look at the wires in the dark. If you see arcing or glowing around the wires they need replacing.

I only run NGK R's in my street bikes, they seem to blow away any other plug I have ever used. I am sure if they make wires they are probably pretty hot. I would use them!

'R's" Means resistor. About 99% of today’s cars are equipped with resistor spark plugs. Most of the standard spark plugs and all the longlife and iridium power spark plugs have a built in resistor of 5k Ohm. This has no effect on the available voltage at the spark plug. Often people fear the word resistor because it makes them think the voltage and current is limited. The resistor that is fitted in the spark plug is 5k Ohm. This is nothing compared to the resistance of the air or the air/fuel mixture in an engine. There is no measurable effect on performance. The resistor is necessary to prevent problems with engine management systems, cellular telephones and datalogging equipment. The spark plug is the best place to put the resistor, because this is the closest you can get to the spark itself. The resistor value of a resistor spark plug and resistor leads and caps is less than 0.01% of the total resistor value of the air/fuel mixture inside the engine
I am not sure why everyone with stock engine internals/no turbo needs these "performance" sparks plugs and wires. I had a 330hp Evo that it is recommended to replace the factory iridium ($60)NGK's with copper NGK's($12) and keep factory wires. This was used on cars up to 500hp. So unless you have a super duper modified engine, spend your money on other areas to tune up. Also before you are concerned about adding modifications, do a thorough tune up first. You have to have a strong foundation. Factory wires and plugs for my Civic.
