My speedometer for my 1995 honda civic si coupe has started to malfunction. I searched everywhere to figure out why and came up with that the cluster or the VSS might be the issue. When the speedometer malfunctions it doesnt register the odometer but if i hold down the reset button for the short trip indicator for the speedometer pops back to life if i hold it down long enough. So i dont know whether the vss or the cluster might be a issue.

 

Sounds more like the cluster than the vss if it workst when you are holding down the trip reset button.
