Default Spoiler/frame separation

Hello everyone.

I've been a Civic fan for years now, and I just bought my 7th Civic a few weeks ago. It's a '93 ESI (hatchback).

I'm trying to put on a rear wing, but I'm having some problems separating the spoiler from the internal frame. Does anyone know how to do this? I have the manual, and I've already taken the spoiler plus frame off the car. I also took out the 4 screws that connect the two together, and I've also loosened the 2 clips on the far left and right side. Looking at the drawing in the manual there are 5 more clips holding the frame to the spoiler, but I see no way of reaching them without breaking stuff. What am I doing wrong?

I think this is like a door panel or the cowl trim under the windshield wipers, you just pull it apart, and if the clips break (they likely will), replace them.
