Spoiler LEDs out...
Hey guys,
I was driving to a friend's house last week and when I got there, he told me that some of the LEDs in my spoiler brake light were out. I looked the next day when I got a chance and I think about half of them are out and there are 3 small sections of lights still working... Being the slight perfectionist that I am about my car, this is aggrivating me beyond belief lol. Anyway, I'm not sure what the best route to take is in terms of replacing them. I dont know if they are like a set or if you can replace a few of them. At this rate I might just replace them all because if half are out now, the rest will probably soon follow. Thanks for any advice!!

You can't really assume that because some LEDs blew, that the rest will. LEDs don't work like traditional lightbulbs. I would first of all check your fuses, and make sure it's the LEDs that are gone, and not something else.
Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the LED setup on hondas by factory, but it's pretty unlikely all your LEDs would just start blowing at once unless something caused it. LED setups are so popular now (in traffic lights, and such) because LEDs usually blow 1 by 1 and not in clusters.
It's also possible they run in a series, and 1 blown LED is knocking out a large amount of the rest.

Well I went to the dealer today and got some bad news... Apparently you cant just replace the light in the spoiler, you have to replace the entire spoiler, and that is going to cost over $500 so I guess I'm going to have to look for some way to either modify and create my own new light bar back there or live with missing LEDs.... If you guys can think of anything else, it would be greatly appreciated, and I appreciate any and all help already given. Thanks again,

Do it yourself, I'm sure it's possible to replace the missing LEDs yourself. Nothing is impossible.
First see if you can pull out the LED array. See how the LEDs are connected... You might need a soldering iron if they're soldered into place.

I just took the piece out of my spoiler only to see that the brake piece is a single unit, and the wires lead in from the back. When it warms up I might explore a little more, its too cold out right now, its like 5 degrees here lol. I also noticed that some of the LEDs are dimming on the left side its really wierd, I could have sworn they were working fine last week. I wonder if the guys at Circuit City messed w/ something when they installed the security system I got for Christmas in last week...... Last time I looked those LEDs on the left werent dim like they are now. Guess I should check fuses tomorrow too...
Ok, sorry to bring this back again lol but I just found a replacement light for my spoiler on www.spoilerlights.com. Its the only place Ive been able to find one and so instead of ordering a new spoiler like Honda wants me to lol, I spent the $45 and got the new light from here, now all I have to do is replace it when it comes, I cant wait! They have good prices and stuff, if anyone needs a replacement light, check them out first!
ya im about to say that TOTAL BS that they cannt sell just the led unit!!!!!!
ive pulled mine off my 99spoiler and its two screws and two prong wires..... your parts guy has got to just be a @sshole not wanting to do any work and just blew you off!!!!!
tho i have looked at the unit before and unless you cut it open i dont think you can solder in the new leds and resistors...
best to just buy a replacement unit...
