Default Starter/gas level problem

I have a 1999 civic, manual that works fine. The 1st problem is when the gas level gets close or under a quarter tank, the starter takes more time to ignite the engine. This problem occurs whether it's cold or warm.

The 2nd problem migth be related to the 1st one: the gas fumes are not expelled in a clear flow: it comes out irregularly. Could it be related?

thanks for any help

the longer cranking tim eis a well known characteristic of Hondas, so dont worry about that. and i have no idea what you mean about the fumes.

When you ask about irregular exhaust flow are you talking about muffler flow? Or can you smell raw fuel?

Yes it's the muffler flow, it does not smell at all, it just does not come out smoothly. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

the engine runs in pulses. each time the spark plugs fire, there is a small burn, it is then pushed out through the exhaust system. so you can often see, at idle, the individual puffs of each cylinder firing, then expelling the burnt gases. no need to worry.

Your welcome. Now if it was a V8 doing that I'd be a lil more worried .
