Starting issue
My 95 EX has been running like crap lately. I finally cleared all of my engine codes (had a bad ECU, then had to fix a 10 code) but it still seemed to want to stall while idling and when I would accelerate it would start to bog down.
I decided the next step was to replace the cap and rotor. Now the damn thing won't start up. I first noticed something odd when I tried to crank the engine because the rotor screw was in the wrong spot. When I had my woman turn the ignition, the rotor wasn't turning. All I got was this really loud ticking sound. I then pulled the whole dizzy off to make sure that was fine (which it was).
I then replaced the rotor and cap and reassembled everything. Upon starting, all I get is the loud sound. It almost sounds like those annoying guns at carnivals that you shoot out the stars with. Also, I should note that this is all being done with a trickle charger/jumper connected which is why I don't think the battery is the issue. Though the battery is damn near shot so who knows.
Any thoughts on where to go next is appreciated. I got all weekend to mess with it.

Sorry if I am discribing the sound incorrectly. It's not backfiring since the engine isn't even trying to turn over. I might have to record the sound and post it.
If the starter makes a "spinning" noise but the engine doesn't turn you should take the starter off and check the flywheel teeth on the spot where it is resting now. Flywheel OK means that the clutch in the starter is blown / stripped. This won't be detectable with the usual test where you take the starter off the car and power it up to make it spin but it's not driving anything.
i have somewhat of a similar problem except when i start my car it will run till it warms up and then will shut off and i have to leave the car of for a few minutes to let it cool down and then i can start it back up now i have changed the ignition coil because a few of my buddies told me that was the problem but i still have the same issue can someone help me out
