steering knuckle boot ripped
well i've been having this kinda rubbing sound when ever i turn the steering wheel to the right at a slow speed(like when i turn into a parking spot) and i had no idea what was causing it...well i decided to take a look under my car and i immediately noticed a whole lota greese or oil or somekinda lubrication and gunk built up around my passenger side wheel and steering knuckle. i cleaned the area up a bit and took a closer look at the boot and noticed about a 1in slash in the middle boot. sooo not i gota get this shiz replaced...how do i go about this? how much do u think it would cost to have it replaced? does w/e thats inside the boot thats leaking need to be re-lubricated? any kinda advice would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!
heres a pic of the boot thats ripped(not my car, just a pic i got from google)

yeah to get it done at a shop would only be like $200 after labous, and if they charged anymore then that it would be a complete rip off... you could just get the boot replaced but that is only a temporairy fix for a permanent problem... just get the axle replaced.. i need to get mine done too soon.
It actually doesn't look like the CV joint has been compromised yet so i would change the boot. However, a boot kit is like $20 and a new axle is like $75 and the boot replacement takes longer.
i think im just gena buy a new axel and try to do it myself. i have access to air tools and got the haynes manual so hopefully i can tackle this. i barely have enough money to buy the axel as it is so dont really have much of a choice..thanks guys!
