Stops Reving at 5000-5500 RPM

Next problem on my civic : Highest rev is 5-5.5k rpm. I'll accelerate and oncethe RPM goes that high the engine cuts off for a sec, letting the rev go down to 4k before going again.

97 civic DX, 226k.
