Default super mgp civic

There is a honda dealer in a town near mine who takes salvage cars, rebuilds them, and sells them. I have loved civics for a while but havent ever had one of my own. I have been thinking about asking him to find me a ek hatchback but put an hx engine in it. I would be using the car mostly for driving to school in work so I want good mileage the most. Would this be easy enough for him to do from a business view that he would be willing to do it? Would there be any engines that i coudl ask for that would get me better mileage? any info is appreciated thanks

All you would need is the head, not the whole engine, the rest is the same. A D16Y8 head would probably yeild similar mileage and bit more kick when vtec sets in. A D16Y6 tranny would be good for mileage because of the taller gear ratios which is what will most likely be in your hatch to start with. Most of the other stuff is the same between all D16's.

Best thing you can do is make sure whatever you get is a manual transmission.
