Default Supertrapp muffler

Always wanted a 2.25" exhaust with a Supertrapp muffler, on my '93 hatch.
Well, I finally got it installed today.

I got the S/C 449-2218.
It's flat black, 4" round and 18" long and I have 9 disks installed.
It's barely even noticeable at the back of my car. Very low key.

AWESOME!
At idle and low RPM's, it has a nice deep, low tone.
At higher RPM's, say doing 80 on the express way, it's so quiet.
I can barely hear it over the sound of my intake.
It's got a deeper tone and just slightly louder.

And, my "butt dyno", tells me that it feels more open and like it's breathing better.

lol @ "feels more open". Never heard of a "supertrapp" exhaust. (on my way to youtube to see if I can find one after this post) A bigger exhaust will most likely lessen torque, but help in top end...especially if you are running a stock motor. Installing an exhaust...probably added 1-3 HP. You have a very sensitive butt which can detect the slightest of gains......or..... it's just in your head. hehe.

Welcome to HCF and I wish that I had a butt dyno which could tell me things like yours does.

Post up pics of your ride!

EDIT:... just did some searches on youtube for supertrapp. Is this some type of bike muffler? I couldn't find many car vids that had a supertrapp. You should make a vid of your car's exhaust and link us to the youtube page for it!

Wow! Are you guys members of any other forums?
Supertrapp has been around for ever.
Yes, they started out making bike mufflers, but have been making them for cars for about 15 yrs or so, that I know of.
Lots of auto cross racers use them (and praise them) because of their ability to meet noise regulations, without sacrificing power. AND, they're tunable!
Sorry about the "misplaced" post. I just saw "general tech" and didn't even pay attention that it said "help".
As for my "butt dyno", if YOU can't add an intake and exhaust and feel a difference...sorry.
As for a "bigger exhaust lessening torque", it's a 4" case with a 2.25" core. Plus, you can add or remove the "diffuser disks" to tune the powerband and sound. More disks=louder and more towards top end. Less disks=quieter and more towards low to mid range
As for videos, check out supertrapp.com. They have videos of many different cars, that you can hear. Also, youtube has plenty of videos with cars (including Civics) with Supertrapps installed. Just search "supertrapp".
I'll post some pix as soon as I can, but don't have a video camera.
And, by the way, thanks for the warm welcome.

Not as an active member like I am here.

Never heard of them. I found a Youtube video of a Porsche 944 with one and it honestly sounded like crap. lol Could have been the mic of the camera which was used, but who knows.

I was joking since you stated, your butt told you something....such as it was speaking to you. We joke around a lot here on HCF. We don't mean any harm though. Remember, an intake and exhaust will add about 5-7 whp at most. Start getting into things such as camshafts, cam gears, valves, and timing/tuning, then you'll feel a bigger difference in the D series.

^^ Chill.

He's new. He accidentally put it in the wrong section, 94civichatchback let him know that, and he thought he was doing the right thing by re-posting in the right section. Get over it. No reason to start typing in all caps and all that ish.

Oh wait... weren't you the one to make a thread about how dead HCF was, only to make the same DAMN thread again in a week???? Yep, thought so. So chill out and sit tight. A mod will come around and clean up the extra threads eventually.

First, CV, that 944 does sound like crap.
Check these out...

Second, as far as "getting into things...", I'm collecting parts, now to rebuild my B18B and put a B16 head on it.
Third, Justin, I goofed and was trying to make it right. I'm on a lot of other Honda and Civic forums and a lot of people ask about Supertrapps. I'm just trying to get an experienced opinion out there.
Fourth (don't you just love my numbered organization? lol), Yes, they do make "sport bike mufflers", but they ALSO make them for car applications, as well as industrial.

And finally, to all that replied, sorry if I sound defensive. Most guys on the other forums like to give the noobs hell about everything they say, without even knowing there experience or background.
By the way, I'm 38, been working on cars since I was 15 and this is my 5'th Civic, 3'rd "EG6".
