temp guage is high
Please help, i took my 92 civic to a shop to have them read my codes(engine light was on), and man says i need a coolant temp sensor , so he sells me one he has there that he never used. i drove off and my tempature was high so i went back and he said its an air bubble. long story short the guys an idiot he replaced my tempature on off swith!, so i purchased the coolant temp sensor, but he broke it in my block! so he put my old temp sensor back and installed a new temp on off switch, but my car temp gauge shows its really hot. why? this was never happening before. my car was running great.

considering the age of the car, bubbling in the cooling system could be from blown head gasket.
Do your local search and find qualified auto mechanic to work on your car.
Good luck,,,,

The thermal switch on the thermostat housing controls the radiator fan. Failure of that one often causes overheating sitting in traffic because the fan doesn't come on when it should. The other two sensors can't do anything to actually control the temperature of the engine. The one under the distributor with one wire drives the gauge on the dash. Rarely it will make the gauge read hot when it really isn't.
