Exclamation Timing? Spark? Distributor? ECU?

Ok, heres my clusterf*ck...

did a minime swap D16 head on a D15B7 block, got the right timingbelt, P28, and distributor. got it to start but my valves were chattering so I got the valve lash adjusted properly. after I got my valves done, my car wouldn't start. I tried to advance the distributor by messing with it a bit and advancing it...epic fail. My buddy was telling me that he felt like it was the timing because he thinks it's on retard, idk I'm new to this honda thing and don't know what to do anymore, it almost started once after the valve adjustment but only ALMOST. what are some things I can check to see if it's electrical? the guy that adjusted the valves said it wasn't sparking, my other buddy says it's the timing and says he remembered having to do some weird timing adjustment on his LS swap.

HELP!!!!!

i think you need to pull the timing cover and make sure its timed correctly, and the belt is tight

I heard somewhere that my timing may be off by half a tooth and I might need an adjustable cam gear? Any Thoughts on that?

Valves adjusted wrong (too tight)... no compression. After checking the cam timing like 94 said, loosen all the valves so they have some slack (don't need to be too precise) and see if it will start.

Blown coil from firing into open circuit (plug wires disconnected). Check for spark-- pull one wire, put a spare plug in it, hold insulated part and touch threaded part of plug to the engine, have someone turn key and crank.

Being half a tooth off won't prevent starting or change performance much. Remember that it did run like that at first.

@MK it makes sense because it looked like I wasn't sparking the the guy that did my valves...I could have blown the distributor because my battery was old and went bad so I was using a jumper pack...would that do it?
