Default TPS question

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to set up my tps on a D16y7, the only problem is that my TB is off of another model engine possibly a y8. If I turn the TPS all the way back to minimum voltage it reads somewhere between .5 and .7 and at WOT it reads 4 even. I understand the range is supposed to be .5 closed and 4.5 WOT but if turn it up so that it gets 4.5 at WOT it makes the closed voltage jump to 1.0 volts.

Should I lower it to 4.0 instead of 4.5 at WOT ? Will the injectors put less fuel into the mixture because of the lower voltage at WOT?

Default RE: TPS question

Can you describe how you are performing the TPS voltage measurements?

I am using an analog multi-meter with the + lead on the center wire (red) that is on the plug that connects the sensor and the - at the negative battery terminal.

It's difficult for me to visualize precisely how you are doing the measurements. Also, a more accurate digital multimeter is more appropriate for such voltage readings.

The picture shows the connector that attaches to the TPS. Disconnect this connector and turn the ignition key to ON.

Edit: What precise voltage do you measure across terminals 1 and 3? Also, how are you providing the 5V reference voltage to the TPS sensor when making measurements? Try performing your measurements using terminal 1 of the connector that attaches to the TPS as ground rather than the negative battery terminal.

I will pick up a digital multimeter over the weekend and try to answer your questions, is it OK to PM you?
