Turn Key and get nothing...
I have a 95 Civic sedan. Was running great, stopped to pick the kids up, when I go to leave and turn the key, Nothing.. Didn't leave lights or anything on. If I have the key in and open the door I get the beeping alert. Tried the key again, when I turn it all the usuall lights on the dash light up but nothing exept a wierd clicking noise when I turn the key off. It sound like it's coming from underneath the dash on the drivers side. At first I thought the battery since the headlights won't come on. Tried to jump it but nothing happens. I finally had it towed. Any guesses to what it might be?
This clicking you hear, does it sound like electricity clicking rapidly? Almost like something is shorting out? If so, the exact same thing happened to me, and it turned out that my battery was completely toast, and couldn't hold a charge.
Clicking sound when turning the key off? Usually you get a clicking sound when you try to start your motor. If so, check your battery and connections. Try to jump your car with your car battery disconnected.
Well you were all right, it was the battery. We tried jumping it but it didn't work. The repair shop had a hard time jumping it also, put a new one in and it was golden. Never had a battery just quit like that, usually there is some sign that it wearing out.
My batteries have always failed suddenly. I've had two that lost all voltage suddenly and two that actually blew up when I drove a pickup.
Switch to that battery that looks like a six-pack or the Odyssey battery by Enersys. I know the odyssey doesn't fail suddenly, doesn't leak acid, and doesn't blow up. They also last longer than walmart batteries and wont be damaged as much if you overdischarge them.
