I recently installed a type R grill on my 98 civic si. in place on 2 clips that clipped into a slot in the bumper on the stock grill, there are 5 smaller ones that should just slide, in and out, my problem is that when i do have all 5 in, and i put the plastic clips back in they pop right back out, i tried for 6 hours holding them in, and putting the plastic clips back in the top, but as soon as i release pressure from the bottom of the grill they pop right back out, leaving a gap between the bottom of the grill and my bumper!

Also: i did not remove my bumper to install the grill
