Same trans.......
Engine specs:
4 cyl, 1.6 L, Auto(4).......for the '00..........28/35......
4 cyl, 1.7L, Auto(4).......for the '02............30/38
Both are non-V-Tec.....from fueleconomy.gov.
Edmunds lists: '00 as 28/35 and the '02 as 31/38....
Does that sound right for real world?........thanks.........

So, if the above info. is for the LX, would the EX probably be a mile or two less in the mileage department?.....

Well...just to through a wrench in the mix ...I've got an 01 EX and I pretty regularly get 42 mpg on the highway on a long trip.

Right....I understand alot of factors go into determining the mileage....my '95 Accord would regularly get 36-37 mpg highway....but city flat out sucked....compared to the Tercel before it.....and city is the bulk of my driving......love the Honda quality, craftsmanship and reliability....since Im having to get a new vehicle I believe the 01-03 Civic would be perfect....just trying to figure out the right one.....

i'm not up on the difference between the dx and lx.
is that just a trim package.
Why difference in mileage between the 2 ??
or does one have port fuel injection and the other only throttle body ?? (dont think so) ??

or you could go for an hx, gets like35 city and 45 highway, they made that from 96 to about 2002 i think? It has a vtec-E motor that gets better mileage, but each year it's mileage is slightly different, but that's something to look into, and it has quite a bit of features standard
