valve cover
 

:( I just changed my valve cover gaskets cause I had oil in my spark plugs. but when I tightend the 4 bolts of the valve cover I broke one. does anyone know if that can be replaced. I have a 91 4 door lx. Its the one on the driver side closest to the front of the car.

sure they can be replaced, they're held in there by RUBBER seals...just pull on it with a wisegrip

whe n you pull off the valve cover the threaded bolts that stick up and go thru the cover to tighten the cover down. the threaded part is what broke. It looked like it was part of the engine.

Oh dear, that dont sound good. Well, you can alwyas mix a little JB weld and stick it in there but you wond really be able to get that sucker open again :D

That's why they say to use a torque wrench. You'll have to take your valve cover off again and try putting a big "vise-grip" pliar on the broken stud as tight as possible and see if you can unscrew it.

Man, some people use torque wrenches for everything...

But yeah, you'll be able to unscrew the stud with a good set of vice grips and some patience.

If that was directed towards me, I figure the reason he broke the stud was that he was probably over tightening the thing. I mentioned torque wrench because it can be a handy tool for a novice and prevent over tightening.
