hello i have d16y8 motor with the vtec. i think that my vtec filter maybe plugged up. if i took off the vtec and looked at the filter to see if it is plugged up, could i just clean up the filter and put it back in with out buying new?

You can usually do that, but if this is your only car have a new gasket on hand before you start. If the gasket gets damaged during removal you need a new one or there will be a major oil leak.
