Default Vtec Problems?....

Hi can anyone advise me on this ?.

I have an ek 98 Honda CivicVti (b16a2) engine

I ve just fitted a new full s/s exhaust to it as the old one had rotted thru near the back box. Before this was fitted and before the rust was that bad, whenit went from normalto Vtec mode it did it quite harshly, this made the car sort of shoot off and feel really fast.

Now with the new exhaustthere sno kick whenyou get passed 5,5000 revs, theres only a slight change in sound. Im worried that cos ive been ragging it in the lower gears to get the Vtec changeover and thus the kick which it use to have, that ive damagd something to do with the change over or the ecu which controls when it changes over.

The engine still seems to rev ok thought?.

Thanx.

I don't know but i'll tell you what I think. Your old rusted out exhuast was making you lose a lot of power and when VTEC kicked in it made a noticeable difference. Now that you have your new exhuast, youv'e gained power and when the VTEC kicks in it's just not as noticeable.
But really I have no idea.
