Weird heating issues
Hi everyone,
Winter is around the corner where I live. I have a 99 civic EX D16Y8 made in the US. The problem I am having is that I have no heating.
My top radiator hose is hot but the lower one is cold. The funny thing is that the 2 hoses that go into the firewall are both hot . I dont get what might be the issue. The car is not overheating and its working at its normal operating temperature.
What I do see is that the temperature **** is a bit hard to move and when set on hot I can hear like water flowing (i dont know if that noise is normal on this car). Last but not least I see that my car needs to be topped with water from time to time, the overflow tank seems to get emptied.
Thanks!

The cooling system needs to be completely full for the heater to work properly. If you hear water gurgling it is not completely full. With the engine cold, take off the radiator cap; the radiator must stay full to the top.
Besides opening and closing the water valve, the **** on the dash operates an "air door" that either sends air through the heater core (hot) or bypasses it for cold. All this is controlled by a mechanism on the bottom of the heater box under the dash in the center of the car.
