What Is it?

I see a lot of references to engine numbers and reckon if I’m going to get any significant mods done I’ll need to find out what mine is.

Its in a ’94 3 door hatch and the stamp says CV2904779. Near the stamp is a bar strip that says S20 2114319. It says its 16 valve and I’m guessing its SOHC as the plugs are set back off the centerline.

Another question is, does anyone know how to get the rectangular trim off just above the arm rests in the back. You can see it on the attached in front of the bracket which holds to back seat upright. I’m thinking I could get a couple of speakers in there.

Thanks

I don't know!

Its been debadged so all I can work on is the age and format.

It has no fuel injection, but I understand that was about the time it was introduced on flasher models.

On the second point, I got the small panels off. Believe it or not they are labelled "speaker mounts"! Thats what I want to use them for. Where can I find 3" woofer (as opposed to tweeter) speakers to fit?

look to the left of the header on the engine block. there should be a stamped flat spot that says something like D16Z6 or D15B7 or D15Z1. what does that say? also, are the spark plugs on the front half or back half of the valve cover?

Sacicons

Thanks for the reply. The spark plugs are set back towards the carb rather than the exhaust manifold which faces the radiator.

When you refer to the header on the block, I don't get your meaning. The number noted above is clear to see from under the bonnet (hood!) located quite close to the clutch housing, and would certainly pass muster as an engine number - its just that its so different from the numbers everyone else is quoting.

Is there anyone out there who reckons to know Honda worldwide protocol on this one. The compliaction may be that the car was assembled in Thailand, although many parts are of Japanese origin.

Regards

yeah, i dont think us 'Mericans can help you out on this, we havent had carburated civics since like '86-'87. i think its too different to tell you with our experience. if you can, post some pics of the engine and suspension and stuff, im really interested in the differences.

Here's a couple of views of the engine.

You can't quite see the engine number but it would be somewhere underneath the radiator top hose.

Presumably the turbo squeezes in down the front?!!

If it's like any other HOnda Civic motor I've come across... the engine block code should be stamped on the block somewhere in this circle:
