Default What is this switch

So I was replacing a blown fuse in my 95 Civic EX, and I noticed that there was a really small little metal toggle switch right by my hood release. Now, the guy I bought this car from had already done some mods to it, so I'm not sure if this is part of that, but it looks like it's got the same age wear and tear as everything else down there. I was wondering if anyone else had this switch down there or if you knew what it did. Thanks.

It's not stock. It could be a "kill switch" that a previous owner added in order to make the car harder to steal. In the off position, the engine would not start even if a thief breaks the ignition switch lock.

You can trace the wires and see where it leads
That would be the easiest way to figure out what the swith does

+1. theres no way to know what it does unless you know what its hooked up to.

it could be anything from a kill switch, to a toggle switch for some neons he used to have.

Alright. Well, I didn't want to go tracing down wires for something that's completely stock, but it sounds like I've got myself a fun little project for the afternoon then. I also found some obviously aftermarket wiring jobs in the glove compartment and the ash tray. One of them is rigged to C4 or something, I'm sure.

ya unless you track down the wires it could be anything! could be a kill switch for the car, could be a bypass switch for a alarm system/automatic headlights/gauge overlay/ neons/leds/ or it could just be simply unpluged and do nothing.... only way to find out is to trace the wires.

If it's spliced into a green and yellow wire that goes to the big main relay nearby, it's a fuel pump kill. Very common mod though it should be hidden better for best results.

Will post a picture here in a minute. I'd never seen it in good light before but it's got "on" and "off" on its respective sides. I'm pretty sure it's a valet switch for the alarm that he installed, but I really don't feel like taking apart my entire dash to find that out. Especially with our apartment complex being very anti-work-on-your-car. I did also find a button next to my steering wheel that I traced to a relay labeled PIAA PL 5FE, and a quick Google search leads me to believe that's what the two fog lights are. Now to figure out why they aren't ever turning on.

That relay I found:
